CGC Home Video Grades Exclusive Deadpool VHS from 2016's San Diego Comic Con!
Recently, CGC Home Video™ certified a rare and interesting videocassette — a sealed Deadpool VHS, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment (2016) graded CGC 9.6 A+. This rare VHS copy of Deadpool was exclusively available to collectors at ComicCon in 2016, and only 100 are known to exist. What’s more, the slipcase is even signed by Ryan Reynolds himself!
Before the introduction of DVDs in the United States in March 1996, homeowners relied on videocassette tapes — such as VHS and Betamax — to watch their favorite movies at home. Although most film studios stopped releasing their films on VHS around 2007, some still release the occasional VHS in limited quantities for collectors and die-hard fans. This CGC-certified VHS copy of 2016’s Deadpool is one such example.
The VHS copy of Deadpool was available exclusively at the 2016 San Diego Comic Con, which was held on July 21-24, 2016. Fox Home Entertainment, the film studio responsible for releasing Deadpool on home video, had a booth at the event. To commemorate Deadpool’s release on Blu-ray that year, Fox held a special sweepstakes during the convention — the first 25 people to purchase the Blu-ray edition of Deadpool each day of the event would receive a special, limited-edition VHS copy of Deadpool along with their Blu-ray copy.
